Description

In 1835 the vine was discovered growing wild on  Cedar Island, in the James River, near Richmond Virginia, and was brought into cultivation by Dr. D.N. Norton the following year. At the Vienna World Exposition of 1873, wine produced from this diminutive grape was declared “the best red wine of all nations”. Norton is a true American Grape born of the heritage of our great nation.

Given careful hand harvesting and barrel fermentation in fine Missouri White Oak barrels, all of the great characteristics of the Norton unfold revealing wonderful chocolaty flavors, on a lithe frame, with blueberry and bramble undercurrents. Capable of great age, this wine will deliver all of the meaty and fruity qualities reminiscent of a Rhone wine and more.

Holding true to its nature, Norton pairs exceptionally well with wild game, smoked meats, grilled meats, and aged Wisconsin cheddar.
